Abstract
This research aimed at analyzing the speech act used in Esio Trot Novel. This study was carried out in the form of a descriptive qualitative study. The research findings that was the sentences produced in the form of the locutionary act, the type of the illocutionary act, and classification of speech act. The most dominant the locutionary act utilized by the research subject is the declarative form consisted of 67% of the data. Then, the most prevalent the illocutionary act used by the research subject is the representative type consisted of 67% of the data. This research improved the knowledge of the speech act in terms of the many forms and types in the society life.
