Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the topic, language functions, and language expressions employed at The Stons Hotel Legian-Bali, located on Jalan Kuta Beach, Banjar Legian Kelod, Badung Regency, Bali. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved three staff members who were experts in guest relations and established criteria for participation. Data collection followed a series of steps, beginning with observations. The study identified the topic and seven key language functions and expressions used by guest relations officer. The topics were including 1) Experience during stay, 2) Recommendations for local tourist attractions or culinary, 3) Local events/events, 4) Plans and activities, 5) Accommodations, and language functions including, 1) Greeting, 2) Asking for feedback, 3) Giving recommendations, 4) Asking and giving for directions, 5) Giving approval, 6) Expressing disappointed, 7) Expressing complaint. This chapter provided a comprehensive overview of the topics, language functions, and expressions employed by the guest relations officer at The Stones Hotel Legian-Bali. Through systematic observation, the researcher identified a range of topics, language functions, and expressions critical for effective communication in the hospitality context.
