Abstract
This research investigated how ready EFL students at SMA Negeri 1 Gerokgak are to adopt ChatGPT as part of their English learning process. A quantitative survey approach was applied, with questionnaire data processed through statistical analysis; the study population comprised the school's EFL students, and Slovin's formula was used to determine a representative sample across grades X, XI, and XII. Two key patterns emerged from the analysis. First, students demonstrated a high overall readiness to use ChatGPT, reflected in their capacity to access and operate AI-based tools alongside sufficient self-confidence, positive attitudes, and ethical awareness when incorporating the technology into their learning. Second, no statistically significant gap was found in readiness across the three grade levels, pointing to a fairly uniform pattern regardless of year. This uniformity suggests that broader contextual elements, such as a shared curriculum, school-level technology support, and consistent exposure to digital tools, shape students' readiness more strongly than grade level or academic maturity alone.
