Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the forms and the meaning of jargon used by the Food and Beverage Product Department staff at Nugraha Lovina Seaview Resort Singaraja. This study applied a descriptive qualitative research design in which the interaction among staff was observed. The subjects of the study were the Food and Beverage Product Department staff. The objects of study were the jargons used by the staff in their communication. In collecting the data, the study applied two instruments, namely: questionnaire and interview guide. The questionnaire and interview method were applied to obtain the data. The data were analyzed by using theory from Halligan (2004). The study results showed that there were 91 Jargons used by the staff of Food and Beverage Product. The Jargons were classified into four categories: word, phrase, abbreviation, and acronym. This study was supposed to contribute to education, especially in tourism.
