Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effect of Mindful Learning toward students' writing competency. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a post-test only control group design. The population of this study was students of XII grade in SMA Negeri 1 Kediri in the academic year 2018/2019, while the sample was 71 students consisting of 35 students from XII IPA7 as an experimental group and 36 students from XII IPA8 as a control group. Samples were collected using random sampling techniques. Data was collected through a post-test in the form of a writing ability test. The data obtained were analyzed using a t-test assisted with SPSS 16.0. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences in writing competency between students taught using Mindful Learning and students taught using conventional writing strategies (tobs = 2,879). Students who are taught using Mindful Learning get better results in writing competency (Me = 82.25) than students who are taught with conventional writing strategies (Mc = 78.67)
