Abstract

This study reveals the results of integration of the Cake Application in the English learning. The study is filled the gaps from previous one in the aspects of skills, method, and data analysis. This study aimed to determine the effect of Cake Application on students’ simultaneous effect on vocabulary mastery and learning motivation, vocabulary mastery, and learning motivation. The total population of this study was 60 students of 7th grade in SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja in the academic year 2023/2024. The study was quasi-experimental research with post-test only control group design. The study involves total sample of 40 students which divided into two groups. Data were collected through a post-test covering vocabulary mastery and a questionnaire for students’ motivation. The validity of the instruments was checked through experts’ judgment and Pearson Product Moment. The reliability of the instrument was checked through Cronbach Alpha. The data were analyzed through one-way MANOVA. The results of this study showed that: 1) there was a simultaneous effect of the Cake Application for high school students vocabulary mastery and learning motivation (Sig .012 < .05), 2) there was a different effect between two groups in vocabulary mastery (Sig .003 < .05), and 3) there was no significant difference effect between two groups in learning motivation (Sig. .959). Thus, this study indicates that Cake Application enables students to master and enrich vocabulary mastery as well as increasing their learning motivation.
