Abstract

ABSTRACT Dewi, L P Diantari Kusuma (2024), The effect of digital task-based language teaching (TBLT) on food and beverage service students’ problem-solving and digital literacy skills. Thesis, English Education, Postgraduate Program, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. This thesis is approved and checked by Supervisor I: Prof. Dr. I G A Lokita Purnamika Utami, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Supervisor II: Made Hery Santosa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D. This research aimed to examine the effect of Digital Task-Based Language Teaching (DTBLT) on enhancing students' digital literacy and problem-solving skills. The study employed an experimental research design with a purposive sample of 55 students majoring in Food and Beverage Service at a of tourism college in Bali. Data were collected through testing and questionnaires. Then analyzed using SPSS version 22, with results processed by the Whitney U-Test. The findings indicated a significant positive effect of DTBLT on both problem-solving skills (sig. value 0.013) and digital literacy (sig. value 0.034). These results suggest that DTBLT is an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing essential skills in students within the food and beverage service field. Based on these findings, it is recommended that DTBLT be incorporated into relevant curricula to foster both digital literacy and problem-solving skills. Further research could examine the broader applicability of DTBLT across different educational settings and over an extended period to validate its effectiveness.
