Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of infographics as instructional media on students' writing competence. This study was designed as quasi-experimental research with a post-test only control group design. The population of this research was third-semester students at English Language Education of Ganesha University of Education, Singaraja, Bali. The sample used was two classes, which consist of 64 students taken using the cluster random sampling technique. The research instrument was a writing test. The data were analyzed through an independent t-test. The result showed that students in the experimental group had better writing competence. It was proven by the difference of groups' means, where the mean of the experimental group was higher than the control group (85.97 > 83.48). The t-test result showed that the tobs higher than the tev, where 3.126 > 3.125. Further, the result of sig. (2-tailed) was 0.003, which meant the data significance value was lower than the alpha significance value (0.05). The result of the effect size test was 0.78, which was analyzed in Cohen's d table. As a result, the effect of an infographic as instructional media on students' writing competence is large.
