Abstract
Student engagement is an important aspect in achieving optimal learning outcomes. Based on the results of observations and initial interviews in class IX of SMPN 5 Singaraja, it was found that most students were not fully engaged in the learning process. This problem was caused using monotonous learning methods, a lack of variety in learning activities, and the limitations of teachers in designing activities that could stimulate student interest and engagement. Therefore, this study aims to develop English learning activities based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) that can enhance student engagement in Grade IX. This study employs the ADDE (Analysis, Design, Development, and Evaluation) model development method. Initial data was collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis to assess the needs of students and teachers. Subsequently, a series of learning activities were designed and developed in accordance with the curriculum and PjBL principles in the form of a teacher e-book. The developed product was then validated by experts and tested for practicality by teacher users. The research findings indicate that the developed teacher e-book is effective in providing relevant and engaging project-based learning guidelines. Expert and user assessments show that the product has a high level of validity and practicality. Thus, this e-book can be an innovative solution for teachers to increase student engagement in English language learning in an active, collaborative, and meaningful way. Keywords: Student engagement, Project-Based Learning, learning activities, teacher e-book, English language learning.
