Abstract
In this research, the researcher examines how humanism and physical resources affect student performance in academics and learning engagement will be included as an intervening variable. The study is based on the humanistic learning theory and questions how positive interpersonal relationships, respect, emotional safety, and learner-cantered practices can lead to academic achievement. At the same time, physical resources including classroom facilities, instructional tools, and technological infrastructure, and learning environments, are measured to establish their influence on cognitive and behavioural performance of students. Since it is understood that engagement is a very important mediating factor in the education process, the research focuses on how the two exogenous variables arouse emotional, cognitive and behavioural engagement of the students and as a result improve their performance in school. The collection of the data was done using a structured questionnaire that was given to students of various academic programs in the university. The hypothesized relationships were to be analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to test the construct validity and test both the direct and mediated effects. Findings point out that humanism has a significant and positive influence on student engagement which consequently leads to better academic performance. Physical resources too have great positive correlation with learning engagement which quite validates the idea that learning environments with good equipment’s provide motivation and engagement. In addition, mediation analysis establishes that engagement is a mediating factor between the two humanism and physical resources and academic performance, thus its central role in converting favourable conditions to quantifiable academic performance. The results highlight the need to incorporate humanistic practices and enhance physical learning facilities to encourage the engaged learning experiences. Educational policymakers and universities are urged to invest in learner cantered pedagogies, faculty development, and better infrastructures in the classroom to enhance better engagement and academic outcomes. The study would add to the body of literature as it empirically confirms the full complex of relations among humanism, physical resources, engagement, and performance due to SEM and provides practical recommendations on the improvement of the quality of education.
