Abstract
This study aims to analyze the problems faced by previous researchers when applying POWER in teaching writing competency, find solutions to solve the problem faced by previous researchers in teaching writing competency using POWER strategy, and synthesize the way to apply POWER strategy in teaching writing competency. This type of research is a narrative review. The research samples are taken using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection method used is the documentation method. Data collection in this research was done by searching for articles contained in online journals, the result of the thesis or dissertation in the repository using Google Scholar. The analysis technique used qualitative data analysis for the data of result in a narrative study the research that found. The results of the study showed the problems faced by previous researchers when applying POWER in teaching writing competency most often found in pre-writing stage is 84,62%, then followed by organizing stage is 46,15%, editing stage 15,38% and the last is revising stage with 7,69%. The solutions to solve the problem that offered by previous researchers in teaching writing competency using POWER strategy animated film, RAFT strategy, and T-Chart strategy. Then, the way to apply an effective POWER strategy in teaching writing competency, the researchers tend to suggest application of POWER strategy assisted by mind mapping Keywords: narrative review, POWER Strategy, writing competency
