Abstract
TEACHERS STRATEGIES IN ONLINE LEARNING DURING COVID PANDEMIC By: Ni Komang Sri Widarini, NIM 1929081042 Program Pascasarjana ABSTRACT Online teaching strategies create some obstacles for teachers. It was not easy to be applied, because the tradisional habit of teaching face-to-face has turned into online learning. On the other hand, teachers were still unfamiliar with E-learning. They encountered some obstacles during the implementation. Therefore, teachers used various strategies in online learning to achieve the learning objectives. This research aimed to find out the perception of strategies, strategies that teachers used, obstacles and way to overcome obstacles that they encountered when they were teaching English during online learning. The research design used in this study was qualitative multi cases study. The research subjects were three English teachers who were teaching at public junior high schools in Tabanan District. The data were collected by using observations and interviews. The data analysis technique used was descriptive qualitative. The results showed that: teachers tend to think the strategies of online learning difficult, for example, unoptimal materials delivered, visual learning methods, and difficulty controlling students. Strategies used by teachers were online chat and mixing online chat with video conferencing, they were: Google form, Google meet, quizzes (game, instructional), and videos (tutorial, cartoon, student’s presentation). Teachers found some obstacles , they were: internet connection, unresponsive students, and problems with the operation of the equipment at the beginning of the pandemic. Strategies for solving obstacles were teacher’s training, improving teacher’s ability from webinars, discuss with felow teachers , and replied to student’s questions in a friendly way.
