Abstract
With the decrease in COVID-19 cases, the teaching and learning activities gradually shifted virtual to onsite learning while maintaining effective education and implementing strict health measures. As teachers adapt to the change, they must acclimate to the transitional period from online to onsite instruction, as onsite learning is not the same as pre-pandemic in-person learning. To explore this transition, this research aims to (1) examine the strategies teachers employ for teaching and assessing students during the transition from online to in-person learning, and (2) examine the challenges faced by teachers during the transition. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to gain a deeper understanding of the current situation. The findings indicate that the first teacher used 12 teaching strategies, the second teacher used 11 strategies, the third teacher used 13 during the transitional period. Additionally, English teachers used assessment as learning, assessment for learning, and assessment of learning approaches for assessment. The study also revealed that teachers encountered difficulties during the transition period, including a lack of student engagement in class, and students not being familiar with their classmates.
