Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was aimed: 1) To describe how English The teacher learn to use Kahoot Application during the professional development on technology-based assessment was conducted 2) To describe English The teacher’ perceptions about using Kahoot application for assessment in the ninth grades at SMPN 1 Selemadeg. 3) To describe how the English The teacher implement Kahoot applications in assessing students’ English skills. 4) To find whether or not the implementation of the Kahoot application affect the Reading achievement of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Selemadeg. The study was carried out at SMPN 1 Selemadeg, Tabanan, Bali as the school's English The teacher had taken part in a training program on using technology to evaluate students' learning. The research methodology used was a sequential mixed method with a pre-experimental design called One-Shot Case Study. While qualitative data was given priority, quantitative data was also collected to support and enhance the qualitative data. The findings indicate that: 1) English The teacher participated several activities during professional development such as following professional development, attending workshops on using Kahoot applications and implementing the use of Kahoot applications in the classroom. 2) The results of this study indicate that teacher in SMPN 1 Selemadeg feels positive which means teacher agrees about all benefits of technology-based assessment by using the Kahoot application. 3)The teacher has no difficulty making assessments using Kahoot application in classroom 4) The lowest score in the reading skill test for students before the Kahoot treatment was 65, with two students (11.1%) achieving that score. The highest score in the reading skill test for students before the Kahoot treatment was 80, achieved by one student (5.6%). After using Kahoot, the lowest score was 55, obtained by one student (5.6%).The highest score after using Kahoot was 90, achieved by three students (16.7%).
