Abstract
This study investigates the interlanguage and intralanguage forms of students of English for Tourism study program in their final project. This study was designed in a qualitative research approach in which document analysis is used during data analysis. The data were collected through the final project written by English students for a tourism study program in the academic year 2020/2021. There were 15 final projects analyzed in this study. The final project produced by students were read, noted, identified, classified, and described. The results show that in the syntactic and lexicon levels, both interlanguage and intralanguage forms influenced the students' writing production. Interlanguage forms such as Indonesian syntax pattern, Indonesian cognate, subject deletion, BE deletion, verb tense, the omission of plural marker -s, omission of article marker, the use of incorrect conjunction, word order, meaning not clear, unparalleled structure, and wrong spelling. The intralanguage forms found were overgeneralization of past form -ed, false friend, simplifications, induced errors, addition of article, addition of TO, the use of incorrect TO BE, and overgeneralisation of TO BE. This study implies that in learning a foreign language, interlanguage and intralanguage forms are experienced by students. Teachers and tutors can apply appropriate strategies and materials to enhance learning. Furthermore, this study can reference further research with different subjects and references for applied linguistics courses.
