Abstract
This study aimed to 1) identify students' perceptions of their English Teacher’s pedagogical competence in SMA N 1 Tejakula 2) identify the English teachers' perceptions of their pedagogical competence, and 3) identify students' and teachers' differences in perceiving related to pedagogical competence in teaching English. This study was a mixed-method study using questionnaires and interviews to collect the data. The result showed: 1) The student’s perceptions of their English Teacher’s pedagogical competence were categorized as positive because the mean of all student's responses was 4.3547, and the mean was exceeded Mi + 3.0 Sdi which was 3, 2) The English teachers' perceptions of their pedagogical competence were categorized as positive because the mean of all teachers responses is 4.4222, and the mean was exceeded Mi + 3.0 Sdi which was 3, 3) The students and teachers were different in perceiving about the pedagogical competence of the teachers in teaching English in SMAN 1 Tejakula in terms of understanding students’ characteristics and potential.
