Abstract
Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) proses pembuatan kain tenun endek dobby, dan (2) karakteristik kain tenun endek dobby di Industri Pertenunan Putri Ayu, Gianyar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Data dari penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode wawancara dan metode observasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber informasi sebanyak 4 orang termasuk informan kunci. Hasil pada penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa (1) Proses pembuatan kain tenun endek dobby yaitu : persiapan alat, pengelosan benang, pemaletan benang, pembentangan benang pada pemidangan, mengikat motif, proses pencelupan benang, pewarnaan dengan teknik airbrush, proses penyucukan dan menenun. Pada proses menenun memiliki perbedaan pada sistem kerja ATBM yang digunakan karena penambahan plat dobby. ATBM dengan plat dobby memiliki keunikan karena dapat memilih gun yang akan digerakkan tanpa menggunakan injakan. Hal tersebut yang menjadi keunikan dari proses pembuatan kain tenun endek dobby (2) Karakteristik kain tenun endek dobby terdapat dua jenis yaitu secara fisik dan nonfisik. Secara fisik dapat dilihat dari tekstur pada permukaan kain yang tidak rata karena motif timbul pada kain tenun endek dobby. Karakteristik nonfisik dilihat dari motif yang ada pada kain tenun endek dobby yaitu : motif hias kotak-kotak, motif hias wajik, motif hias bunga pucuk, motif hias bunga margot, motif hias bintang, motif hias pepatran. This study aims to describe (1) process of making endek dobby woven fabrics, and (2) the characteristics of endek dobby woven fabrics in the Putri Ayu weaving industry, Gianyar. This research is a descriptive research. The data from this study were obtained using the interview method and the observation method. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. Sources of information as many as 4 people including key informants. The results of this study stated that (1) The process of making endek dobby woven fabrics, namely: preparation of tools, embossing threads, thread pasting, stretching threads on the pillow, tying motives, thread dyeing process, coloring with airbrush techniques, washing and weaving processes. The weaving process has a difference in the ATBM work system used because of the addition of a dobby plate. ATBM with dobby plates are unique because they can choose which gun to move without using a stamp. (2) The characteristics of endek dobby woven fabrics are of two types, namely physical and non-physical. Physically, it can be seen from the uneven texture on the surface of the cloth because the motifs arise on the endek dobby woven fabric. Non-physical characteristics can be seen from the motifs on the endek dobby woven fabric, namely: plaid decorative motive, diamond decorative motive, pucuk flower decorative motive, margot decorative motive, star decorative motive, pepatran decorative motives
