Abstract

Pedagogical content knowledge is the basic knowledge and skills that must be owned by a teacher. Pedagogical content knowledge includes all aspects related to teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This study aims to analyze how the perception, implementation, and consistency of non-qualified English teachers relates to the importance of pedagogical content knowledge in the learning process. This research involved 3 non-qualified English teachers from different schools in Klungkung regency. The technique of selecting teachers as research subjects used convenience sampling. There are four types of instruments used, including researchers, questionnaires, observation sheets and interview guides. The results obtained were then analyzed again using the interactive analysis model by Miles and Huberman (1994). Based on the results of the analysis, the data obtained from the questionnaire is high, then the data obtained from the observation is very low. This indicates that there is no consistency between perception and implementation. The inconsistency between perception and implementation is caused by the teacher's limitations in developing learning designs, the various characteristics and needs of students so that teachers have difficulty determining appropriate learning designs, and the rare use of English by teachers and students because English is a content subject. Therefore, the implication of this study is that teachers can use technology to access learning resources, examples of lesson plans and their designs, and take advantage of the environment around students.
