Abstract

This study aimed to develop project-based learning activities in English classes to implement Kurikulum Merdeka for ninth-grade students. This research has three purposes: 1) specification of Project-Based Learning activities, 2) prototype of Project-Based Learning activities, and 3) quality of the prototypes. This study used an RnD research design with mixed methods. There were 75 students and 4 teachers who participated in this study. The data were collected using questionnaires, interview guides, and document analysis. The specifications based on the need analysis needed for teaching English are the activities that must be relevant to the topic, grouping activities, emphasizing the values 6C and Pancasila Student Profile, etc. The eight stages of PjBL, based on Hamidah (2020) were used to develop this book. Therefore, there are two books, the student’s and teacher’s books. Each book has 6 units. The quality of the prototype from the expert judge and user judge indicated that the Project-Based Learning Activity possesses high-quality content, language, and media aspects. Consequently, this study serves as a reference for teachers regarding PJBL activities in book format to facilitate English learning and for students to engage with English material.
