Abstract

This research focused on how Singaraja Montessori School implements Bilingual education as well as the benefits and challenges for teachers when implementing bilingual education. This study used qualitative descriptive research methods with data collection techniques: observation, interview, and document analysis. This study involved two teachers in grades 4, 5, and 6 who actively used bilingual education. This study found that the school implements a bilingual education approach by integrating two curricula, namely the Montessori and Merdeka curriculum, with CLIL and Translanguaging strategies. Teachers implement a strong bilingual program. The researcher also found several benefits felt by teachers, namely: (1) Language development, (2) career opportunities, (3) cultural understanding, and (4) teachers' pedagogy. There are several challenges faced, namely: (1) school policy, (2) teachers' background, and (3) academy culture.
