Abstract
This thesis aimed to describe the uniting and differentiating of phonological and lexical features between Protolanguage of Bima-Sambori and Kolo. This thesis applied descriptive qualitative research. The objects of this thesis were the phonological and lexical evidences of Protolanguage of Bima-Sambori and Kolo language that unite and differentiate their linguistic features. The subjects of this study were the speakers of Kolo language, who live in Bima regency. They were considered as the informants of the study who were selected based on a set of criteria. The data collected were in the forms of primary and secondary data. The instruments used in collecting the data were the researchers as the main instrument and three wordlists; Swadesh’, Nothofer’, and Holle’s, and a recorder. The obtained data were analysed descriptively. The study shows as follows; in term of uniting linguistic features, both languages were found to have the same 5 vowels, 14 diphthongs, 17 consonants, and 5 consonant clusters. In term of differentiating linguistic, 3 diphthongs, 5 consonants, and 5 consonant clusters were found different in both languages. In term of uniting lexical linguistic features which unite both languages, the study found that 1055 etymons were found cognate, and in term of differentiating lexical linguistic feature, that 573 etymons were found not cognate.
