Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Comic integrated with Blended Learning method on the development of literacy skills, especially young learners in grade six elementary schools. A post-test-only control group design and a qualitative design were used in this study's embedded mix-method experimental design. To compare the literacy abilities of the students, statistical analysis of their test results was utilized. To analyze the responses of the students, the researcher employed a questionnaire and an observation checklist.. The students used as the sample were 30 grade 6C students and 30 grade 6B students at SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja. The result of this study is that there is a significant difference in student scores in the experimental group and the control group. After testing the results of the data using the Independent sample t-test, the data obtained shows sig. (2-tailed) is 0.0, it can be seen that the observed significant level (sig. 2-tailed) is smaller than the standard alpha level (α = 0.05). In addition, student also give positive reponses related to the use of Comic integrated with Blended Learning. Therefore this shows that the application of comics integrated with the Blended Learning method has a significant influence on the English literacy skills of students at SD N 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja.
