Abstract
This study was designed in the form of a quasi-experimental research. The aims of this study were to 1) analyze the significance effects of the implementation of blended English literacy-based assessment for learning on students’ English language competency, 2) analyze the significance effect of the implementation of blended English literacy-based assessment for learning on students’ attitudes, and 3) analyze the significant simultaneous effect of the implementation of blended English literacy-based assessment on students’ English language competency and attitudes. The population of this study was the eight-grade students in SMP Negeri 1 Susut, Bangli. The sample of this study was 64 students, 32 for the experimental group and 32 for the control group. They were selected through a prerequisite testing in order to ensure that there was no significant difference between eight intact groups. Then, two insignificantly different classes were chosen as sample. The data were analyzed using independent-samples t-test and MANOVA assisted by SPSS 26. The results show that 1) there was a significant effect of implementing blended literacy-based assessment on students' English language competency (a significance value of 0.000, p < 0.05, Cohen's D = 1.97), 2) there was a significant effect of implementing blended literacy-based assessment on students' attitudes (a significance value of 0.000, p < 0.05 Cohen's D = 0.91), and 3) there was a significant simultaneous effect of implementing blended literacy-based assessment on students' English language competency and attitudes (the significance level for Pillai's Trace, Wilks' Lambda, Hotelling's Trace, and Roy's Largest Root were 0.000, p < 0.05). Conclusively, English literacy-based assessment for learning gave significant effect on students’ English language competency and attitudes as well as it has simultaneous effect on students’ English language competency and attitudes.
