Abstract
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to develop Padlet-Based Hybrid E-Portfolio Assessment Instruments for Advanced Writing Course in higher education and evaluate their effects on students’ achievement, self-directed learning, and engagement. The study was carried out at Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar with a particular focus on undergraduate fourth-semester students enrolled in the Advanced Writing Course during the academic year 2022/2023. A range of instruments for research were used, such as questionnaires, a document analysis checklist, interview guides, an observation sheet, Diagram of the Organizational Element Model (OEM), test, and rubric. The study's findings were examined with the aid of IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25 software. Descriptive statistics, normality distribution test, homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test were conducted. The findings revealed that the developed Padlet-Based Hybrid E-Portfolio Assessment Instruments significantly improved students’ achievement, encouraged self-directed learning, and promoted engagement. Students’ perceptions also underscored the usefulness and user-friendliness of the Padlet-Based Hybrid E-Portfolio Assessment Instruments. This study made a contribution to the field of educational research by showing that innovative e-portfolio assessment instruments can enhance learning outcomes and experiences. Practical implications included instructor training, customization of assessments, provision of ongoing support, adoption of modern e- portfolio systems, fostering of collaborative learning, and the sharing of knowledge among instructors.
