Abstract
This study aims to determine empirical support for the impact of the Duolingo program on students' vocabulary acquisition. A quasi-experimental research design and quantitative approach were used in this study. For this study, 36 seventh-grade students from SMPN 1 ATAP PEGAYAMAN in the 2023-2024 school year were selected as the sample. They were divided into two classes: an experimental class (7B) and a control class (7A). There were eighteen students in each group. While the control class was taught using flashcards and teacher presentations, the experimental class used the Duolingo app as a teaching aid. The findings of the calculation showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 78.3, while that of the control class was 60. At the 5% significance level (α = 0.05), the independent sample t-test results showed that the t-test was 2.188 and the t-table was 2.000, or t-test > t-table.
