Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of e-mind map use in an online Think-Pair-Share (TPS)-based reading instruction towards Indonesian EFL senior high school students’ reading comprehension. This research was a quasi-experimental study with a posttest-only control group design. The samples of the study consisted of 64 eleventh graders of SMA Negeri 1 Singaraja derived from two equal intact classes, which were assigned randomly into a control group taught by using online TPS without e-mind map and an experimental group taught by using online TPS with e-mind map. The data were collected through a reading comprehension post-test and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics assisted with IBM SPSS Statistics version 24. The results of the study show that (1) the experimental group’s mean was 91.13 (out of 100), which was higher than the control group’s mean, which was 86.25 (out of 100) and; (2) there was a significant difference between the mean of the experimental group and that of the control group (Sig. (two-tailed) was 0.031 < 0.05). Therefore, it could be inferred that e-mind map had a positive and significant effect on Indonesian EFL students’ reading comprehension in online TPS-based reading instruction.
