Abstract

The massive integration of technology in education has made online assessment literacy an important skill for prospective teachers. This study explores the online assessment literacy level of second-semester students in the English Language Education study program at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha). A cross-sectional design was used by involving 121 students who completed a validated questionnaire consisting of 28 items. The results indicate that students generally demonstrate a moderate level of online assessment literacy, with variations across different dimensions. Female students showed stronger abilities in Administering (AD) and Recognizing Ethics (RE), while male students performed better in Communication (CO) and Developing (DE). This indicates a greater ability in implementing assessment and communicating the results to the students and other stakeholders affected. The overall score demonstrated that Choosing (CH) and Developing (DE) dimensions show a low category. It emphasized the need for assessment training for second-semester students that focusing on selecting the appropriate assessment and developing the instrument that in line with the learning objectives. The hypothesis testing comparing male and female students showed there was no significant difference in online assessment literacy scores based on gender (p>0.05). These findings suggest assessment training in this stage needs to be designed in an inclusive and equal manner for all students regardless of their gender, with an emphasis on strengthening all dimensions of assessment comprehensively.
