Abstract

The role of prospective teachers is evolving with advancements in educational technology, and online assessment literacy has become a crucial competency for educators in the digital age. This study aims to assess the level of online assessment literacy among sixth-semester students in the English Language Education Program at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha). Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, the study involved 73 respondents who had completed an assessment course. Data were collected through a questionnaire measuring seven dimensions of online assessment literacy: selecting, developing, managing, using decisions, using assessments, communicating, and recognizing ethics. The results indicate that the majority of students have a moderate level of online assessment literacy, with no significant differences between genders. Female students scored the highest in the administering dimension (62,3%) and communicating dimension (62,7%), while male students scored the highest in the administering and communicating dimension (55,6%). The lowest scores were found in the developing dimension, with 36.8% for female students and 31.9% for male students. This study identifies key challenges in online assessment literacy, including technical issues, difficulties in providing effective feedback, and concerns about the reliability and validity of assessments. The study highlights the importance of practical skill development and targeted training to enhance prospective teachers' online assessment competencies, preparing them for the challenges of digital assessment in the future.
