Abstract
This study aimed to identify EFL students' perceptions about using Mobile Assisted Language Learning in an online learning context at SMPN 1 Tampaksiring. The researcher conducted the study by following a survey research design. The study population was the students in SMP N 1 Tampaksiring, which consisted of 420 students. The number of the study sample was determined using Slovin's formula, and based on the calculation, the number of the ideal samples was 205 students. The researcher distributed a closed-ended questionnaire to the study samples to collect the needed data. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics, especially the mean score, using SPSS version 20 for windows. Then, the mean score for each aspect of the questionnaire and the mean score based on the total score for all elements were categorized using a category table determined using the theoretical ideal reference assessment theory. This study found that the students have positive perceptions of the implementation of MALL as seen from the cognitive, affective, and conative aspects and the strengths and weaknesses of MALL perceptions. Since this study is limited to finding the students' perceptions only, another study needs to be conducted to identify teachers' perceptions and how those perceptions influence the students' learning achievement.
