Abstract
This study investigated the significant effect of TBLT-based digital storybooks on students’ English learning simultaneously and on each skill, namely listening, reading, speaking, and writing. This study used quasi-experimental research with a post-test-only control group design. The research sample of this study was 37 students, and cluster random sampling with a lottery system was used to determine which group belonged to the experimental or control group. Ensuring that both groups have equal level before the treatments and appropriate as sample, independent sample t-test was conducted with the normality and homogeneity test performed to check the assumptions that must be met. From the t-test, there was no significant difference between the two groups, which two groups mean that those groups were appropriate as the sample. Lesson plan, posttest, and rubrics were used as the instruments to collect the data. Then, after the data was collected, it was analyzed using SPSS 27.0. The findings showed that there are significant differences in students’ English learning simultaneously and levels before doing the treatments and appropriate sample, an n each language skill between both groups (Sig < .05). Students who taught using a TBLT-based digital storybook outperformed students who taught using teacher's method. The effect size calculation using Partial Eta Squared also showed a large effect of TBLT-based digital storybook on students' English learning (3.14 > .14), listening (.218> .14), reading (.180 > .14), speaking (.306 > .14), and writing (.189 > .14). Therefore, this study indicates that teachers can effectively implement TBLT-based digital storybooks in the future for teaching and learning, as it positively affects students' language learning across all four English language skills. It was noted that this study has limitations. Therefore, it is recommended that similar studies are conducted with a large research sample size, extending the intervention sessions, and using other materials to enrich the result of the study.
