Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effect of animated movie on students’ speaking skill. This study was an experimental study adopting posttest only control group design. The sample of this study was 10th grade students in SMAK Harapan Denpasar consisting of 36 students in experimental group and 34 students in control group. There are two kinds of instruments used in this study. To collect the data of students’ speaking score, speaking test and rubric for assessing speaking were used. Meanwhile, to conduct the experiment, a lesson plan was implemented. The results of descriptive analysis confirmed that students in experiment group who were treated with animated movie showed higher speaking skills (74.41) compared to students in control group who did not receive animated movie (66.52). A t test conducted also confirmed that the mean difference between experiment and control group was significant (p<0.05). This study concluded that animated movie effected students speaking skills.
