Abstract

This study focused on analyzing and classifying of code switching in Indonesian movie “Bridezilla”. This study was descriptive qualitative method. This study used 2 instruments to collect the data, the first one was checklist sheet and the second one was taken a note. Checklist sheet was used in collecting the data of analyzing and classifying the types and function of code switching in Indonesian movie “Bridezilla” and took a note was used to describe the result of analyzed and classified of code switching in Indonesian movie “Bridezilla”. Bloom and Gumperz’ theory was used in analyzing and classifying the types and function of code switching in “Bridezilla” movie. There were 3 types of code switching, those were Tag-Switching, Inter-Sentential Switching and Intra-Sentential Switching and there were 2 functions of code switching, those were Situation code switching and Metaphorical code switching. The result from this study was found out 35 dialogs in Indonesian movie “Bridezilla” that was contained of code switching. There were 2 types of code switching found in this study, those were Inter-Sentential switching and dialogs were Tag-Switching. 31 dialogs were Inter-Sentential switching and 4 dialogs were Tag-Switching. There were 2 functions of code switching found in this study, those were Situation code switching and Metaphorical code switching.
