Abstract
Authentic assessment is seen as a crucial component of the teaching and learning process for assessing students' language proficiency. The changes and improvements in the education sector are very clearly visible in the development of educational curricula to improve the quality of education. In order to support the new adjustment of Merdeka Curriculum, lecturers are also encouraged to maximize the use of authentic assessment in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine how lecturers perceived, planned, and carried out the implementation of authentic assessment for assessing students' productive skills in Merdeka Curriculum. This study used qualitative approach and case study as research design. Four lecturers were used for the subjects in this study. The data were analyzed qualitatively using three data collection techniques such as in-dept interview, document analysis, and observation. Interview guide, checklist and field note were the instruments used to collect the data. The finding of this study revealed that lecturers’ perceptions from some aspects namely beliefs, knowledge, and attitude. Generally, they perceived that authentic assessment was important since it affected the planning and practice of authentic assessment, and they believed that it can develop students' productive skills. Then, planning and implementation were being identified and the result showed there were some stages conducted in planning authentic assessment for assessing students’ productive skills. Besides, the lecturers planned some techniques of authentic assessment and rubrics as the instruments in their RPS or Semester learning plan. Furthermore, in the implementation, the lecturers actively implemented authentic assessment through authentic assessment by applying several techniques for assessing students’ productive skills based on the authentic material and strategies designed in Merdeka Curriculum. Then, there is the differences between the planning and implementation due to the classroom situation. The study is expected to provide chances for essential feedback and self-reflection for both teachers, policymakers, and curriculum developers to enhance their pedagogical knowledge in assessing students' productive skills.
