Abstract

ABSTRACT The current study was intended to explore the teaching techniques used, the frequency of the techniques used, and the implementation of the techniques in one selected informal English course in Buleleng exactly in Les village. In collecting the data, observation, and interview were conducted. The subjects of this study were a teacher and 35 students. It was found that the teaching techniques used by the teacher were Game, Roleplay, Flashcard, Song, and Quiz. Based on the findings, the most frequent techniques used were Quiz. The teacher implemented the techniques with certain steps and adjusted the activities with the learning goals. Those techniques found in this study are examples of many teaching techniques that can be used to teach English for young learners. Thus, the role of the teacher is essential in selecting the teaching technique based on the students’ needs and characteristics. Teaching, Techniques, Young learners
